Captain Michael Maya Charles has been in the left seat of a major airline for 15 years – but he wasn’t born there. He came up slowly through the flight instruction-charter-corporate-small airline route, and is still a very active GA pilot and instructor in both airplanes and helicopters. He has flown hundreds of different aircraft in his 22,000+ hours and 40+ years of flying, including many experimental and “one-of” types. His A&P certificate allows him to care for his 1979 Cessna 185 Skywagon and beloved 1946 Piper J-3 Cub, named, “Sensei” (teacher). An aviation writer and photographer since the mid-seventies, he was a contributor to FLYING Magazine for many years, and authored their popular "Pro's Nest" column. Michael is a frequent contributor to AOPA Pilot Magazine.
Michael’s new book, “Artful Flying,” provides a whole new way to approach the cockpit and to raise your flying to the level of art that Tiger Woods takes golf, Michael Jordon takes basketball, or Bob Hoover flew his incredible aerobatic performances.
Winner of the Colorado Independent Publishers Association’s EVVY award, Aero News Network’s “Product of the Year” and many rave reviews from fans and reviewers alike, the book is 332 pages of pure thought-provoking fun. As Bob Hoover wrote, “This book could change your life.”
“Artful Flying” is available now at many of the best aviation book retailers and at Michael’s own website, artfulpublishing.com. Books will be available for purchase and Michael will be happy to sign your copy after his talk.
